Was looking at the click ads and yesterday there were 10(?) slots but today there only seems to be 5.
Are you phasing out the other 5 and making sure no one new buys them or is there another reason? |

Hi,
Unfortunately we need to remove those slots in the meantime as the popularity of the ad clicks system is proving too great for our current server We will test in the next few weeks whether removing these slots is adequate to reduce server load, but if not our server will require an overhaul, at which point we may need to make a decision to keep the current ad clicks system and overhaul the server, or remove the system altogether.
We will keep you updated as to what is going on. _________________ The UK's no.1 free stuff site! |

oh - and don't worry if you are currently receiving clicks through the ad slots we have removed - your ad will continue as normal until all of your clicks have been received. _________________ The UK's no.1 free stuff site! |

I have an ad slot and ever since these changes were made, I've hardly had a click. I got 90 before the changes and about 20 yellows ( no greens) but now I'm hardly getting any interest.
Now my ad doesnt even feature in the forum header, have some been taken off the loop?
No offense, but it would have been nice to have some prior notice of the server problem before paying for the ads. |

phuquedifino - The removal of the banner slots will not effect ANYONE's ads, it simply means the banners will not be available for sale when the person currently occupying the ad slot runs out of clicks.
As for the server problems - there are none, we simply need to reduce the load on the servers a little to increase the speed of the site. Again, this will not effect anyone's clicks.
Any drop in clicks you have experienced is purely conincidental, and is more than likely due to the weather we've been having lately.
Furthermore, the rotating banners have not been updated for some time - your banner never featured in the header. _________________ The UK's no.1 free stuff site! |

The impression that I got was that once someones ad clicks ran out, the slot wasnt going to be used again as you were phasing them out. I guess I got that wrong then as my campaign ran out and i wasnt able to renew it but the slot has been taken now.
Can someone clarify for me, and others what is actually happening with these campaigns as I would have liked the chance to purchase more but it wouldnt allow it. |

I think if all the slots come back into place, whoever had the slot last should have first dibbs on it, it would be only fair. |

I take it that the slots that we can no longer buy and have ran out now have the referral link of one of the admins/mods from here? |

To clarify:
The adverts for HDTV, Sony PSP, iPod Touch, Nokia N95 and Nintendo DS are all being phased out. If you currently have any of these slots, your ad will not be effected, it will continue as normal until you run out of clicks. Once these clicks run out, you will not be able to purchase these 5 banners as they are no longer for sale. This is to reduce the excessive load on our servers due the popularity of the clicks system. We may reintroduce these ads in the near future once we have resolved the technical issue.
As the ads are phased out, you may still receive an email saying it is still available. However, as the ads are no longer being sold, you will not be able to purchase them.
The ad clicks system is not being totally abolished, we simply have to remove a few of the ads for sale until we can fix the underlying issue with our server. You will still be able to purchase adverts for: Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, and Macbook Air. _________________ The UK's no.1 free stuff site! |
