PM questions

A couple of quick questions about PMs.

When you send a PM it goes into your outbox and stays there until collected, will it stay in there forever if the person never returns to the site or are they deleted after a set time.

Also when is the PM actually marked as sent. Is it when the person reads it or when they open their PM inbox or just when they next visit the site.

I could be wrong, but I believe it's when they read it (or at least go onto the inbox) as I have sent messages to online people before that've taken varying times to leave the outbox.

A personal message stays in your outbox until it has been read by the person you sent it to.
