|
|
I was wondering if we (and by "we", I mean this site) had a system in place that would encourage scammers to think twice before doing it.
I mean, it's all very well having a scammers list, but they can easily go onto another freebie forum (or any other referrals forum) under a different username and do the same there.
Just a thought, I've seen that this site has some contact with Lee from Kudos at least, so maybe if we could give their e-mails/ips to them, once we have confirmed they are scammers, they can in turn put them on hold.
Scamming is a breach of the Terms and Conditions on most sites (just worded differently I'm sure), and if we could make this the procedure for known scammers (and make it known to people out there who join this site) that they will not get away with it, then we (the users of Gimme4Free) could have a lot less to worry about when trading.
This would benefit more than one person, I'm certain of it.
UNLESS, of course, that system is already in place and I should just sshhtp.
Thanks,

Hi RyanIsle,
Scamming is a difficult problem to tackle across websites; the most effective way of dealing with trade scamming would be to improve measures within any given trading site/forum, in my opinion.
We are toying with a few ideas to take the risk out of trading on Gimme4free. One of these is a points based system, where members of the forum can only trade once they have built up a certain number of points through participation in forum discussions. Members would earn points by posting and writing on the forums, and these points would represent a sort of 'trustworthiness' score for that individual.
Furthermore, we would introduce a kind of trading 'etiquette' whereby those with the most points would be required to complete their end of the trade last (and the person with least points complete their end of the trade first).
This way, those who have earned more trust through participation in the forums would also be given more trust when it comes to trading.
This is just one of a few ideas floating around to deal with scamming. Any comments on this idea, or any alternative suggestions would be appreciated. _________________ The UK's no.1 free stuff site! |

The points idea, is this as in a similar method to another freebie forum (I don't want to insult your intelligence by explaining the the 5 posts rule)?
I think this is a good idea anyhow.

I would be in favour of any measures that offer a safer trading environment to the users of this site.
The ettiquette ideas are good and I wish they could be imposed as more than just mere ettiquette. More established members are better trusted and it would help eliminate scammers looking for a quick green. _________________ Visit my website at:

Hey, Furb.
I thought you'd stopped freebie-ing?
Or maybe that was just another freebie forum...
Anyway, I would hope the scammers are reported, but I've noticed some people who are banned from another freebie forum or another freebie forum are on here now... so maybe those sites don't report them... |
