You must have a waiting list or this system will be floored

The ad clicks system is a good idea but you must hy have a waiting list because two times I have missed out on slots because I do not have access to my e-mail at work and at home I have a small child so i can't spend my whole day waiting for e-mail notfifications. Basically unless I happen to be on line at the right time I may never get my slot and you guys get to keep my money. I'm not saying you guys are conning me but the potential problem we have is the same old people may end up with slots as the can afford to sit with their eyes glues to the screeen. This has to be made fairer

We do not suggest you put money into your account when there are no advert slots available – in fact, quite the opposite. Furthermore, it is very clear on the banner ads page which adverts are available, and which are not, so there should be no confusion there. Obviously you set yourself up to wait for an ad slot if you add funds to your account prior to any slots being available.

We trialled a waiting list previously, and found that the waiting list ends up too long for the system to be a fair one. If you add money to an account, then end up at the bottom of a 100 person waiting list, then this is surely no fairer than waiting for an advert slot to become available?

to be honest i like it the way it is now. A waiting list wouldn't appeal to me. I hate waiting!

possibly a trade off would be to introduce waiting lists but to limit them to a certain size so you are able to get your order in if your struggling to find an open slot, but your not gonna be stuck for months waiting for your ad to activate!

I think that this is the best way as at the mo I have missed the slot I wanted twice and in logic what you guys are saying is its pot luck as to whether you get your slot. Unless you are prepared to sit by your e-mail 24/7 waiting to get notification you stand no chance. It should be done on a waiting list basis of maybe 5-10 people and to avoid have a waiting list that is miles long you could have open slots i.e tomorrow 21st April the waiting list will be open from 12pm to 1230 first 10 will get a place for one of the slots.

Sorry to bump this, but I just wanted to add my thoughts about the waiting list.

I don't think there's much point in advising that you shouldn't add funds until an ad is available, as by the time you've gone through paypal someone else has bought the ad. Either that, or if someone is in the process of adding funds, then the ad should be locked to them so that they can complete the purchase.

A waiting list would be fairer. If the person currently on the ad knows that there's only a few clicks left, then they can easily add funds and then keep track of the clicks, and as soon as it's available they'll re-purchase it before anyone else has a chance. It would also be possible for the person that has the ad to manipulate the clicks by either using a work/uni/college pc with different IP's or ask their friends to go click on the ad for them. I know this isn't very honest, but if you've got the No.1 slot you'll want to hang on to it.

I've been waiting on an email notification for months and not received one, but when I logged in it still showed that I was on the notification list.
